What to Eat And When.

There is a trend today to eat local seasonal foods , eating what was caught or raised was a Appalachian tradition until only recent years. And now many local area restaurants and cafes are returning to this tradition. I promise you there is nothing like eating a deep fried mountain trout just caught out of a mountain stream or fresh vegetables and herbs just picked out back. Home grown heirloom tomatoes will have you spending all day driving just to pick up a basket. And okra oh yes okra. And pecan crusted farm raised catfish filets will drive you crazy just at the thought that they aren't available anywhere back home. Another of my things is sweet potatoes and I love them baked , fried , made into pies and deep fried sweet potato pies. And we simply can not forget the blackberries. There is nothing on earth as a piece of hot blackberry custard with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream on top.
