Top 5 2010 College Football Picks

Alabama returns 10 starters on offense this year but they are not the same football team that won the National Championship in 2009. This is not the same team that pounded Florida and Texas last year. This year both Florida and Texas may just get some well deserved revenge on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

One key thing to keep in mind is that their are nine new starters on the Alabama defensive unit this year so Alabama is for sure not in for a cake walk in 2010. However Alabama should remain the strong number 5 finisher in college football in 2010. Some people will argue with you that they will place higher than 5 but I just don't see it happening. Not this year. But Alabama is not going to lay down for anyone. They will be a tough opponent for any team.

But unfortunately Alabama will have to face Mississippi , Auburn , Mississippi State , L.S.U. , Tennessee , Ole Miss , and South Carolina during the 2010 college football season and I say they will drop a couple of those. If so they still should finish at least as the number 5 team in college football but a repeat as the national champions is not in the cards for 2010. However don't forget that Alabama has won the College Football National Championship 12 times and this team will play hard against any opponent.

Sophomore Quarterback Garett Gilbert was thrust into the 2009 College Football National Championship game and he should be one of the bright spots in the Texas Longhorns lineup in 2010. Add to that four returning seniors who will play on the offensive line and you should end up with a Texas Longhorn offense that should play outstanding college  football in 2010.

The Texas Longhorn Defense should be strong with seven starters returning to the defense. Think about this. This team gave up only 16 points per game in 2009 and their sure to be both a tough and stingy defense in 2010.

The strength of their offense and a stingy defense should put the Texas Longhorns in the top five college football teams for several years to come. We will have to wait and see if the 2010 Texas Longhorn team can get back to the B.C.S. Championship game and if they can where can they go from there. I think they will finish number 4 in college football in 2010 but we will have to wait and see.

Its to bad for Ohio State that games aren't played and decided on paper because on paper Ohio State is the best college football team in 2010 and possibly ever but like I said football games aren't decided on paper.

The Buckeyes have to play a very strong Miami team at home before going on the road against Iowa and Wisconsin and there's just no way Ohio State can win all three of those games. And its for that reason that I have Ohio State picked to finish at number 3 in college football in 2010.

With the schedule that Ohio State has facing them in 2010 they are sure to drop one to three games and this will decide where they end up in 2010. If they can hold their losses to one or two games they have a chance to finish the 2010 college football season at number 3. If not they could drop out of the top 5.

Here may be the sleeper team of 2010. Could Boise State take it all the way in 2010 and win a College Football National Championship. Its a possibility but Boise State would have to play a perfect season in 2010 and get some help with losses by teams in the top 5 college football teams in 2010. If everything went right for Boise State they could end up at number 1 but I don't believe in miracles so I call it that Boise State will finish number 2 in college football in 2010.

Boise State has talent and they return a lot of starters to their 2010 college football team. Believe it or not but they have 10 starters returning on both defense and offense in 2010 and this team has heart. Quite possibly Boise State may be the hungriest team in the hunt for the College Football National Championship in 2010 but for that to happen everything would have to go perfect.

One key thing that stands in the way of a 2010 National Championship for Boise State is a week one match up against Virginia Tech in Washington D.C. However if they were to pull off a strong win over Virginia Tech people would set up and pay attention. Lets just watch and see what happens.

Keep in mind that Boise State went 14-0 and were the winners of the Fiesta Bowl in 2009. And along the way there they beat up on Oregon so maybe just maybe Boise State could have a few things fall their way in 2010 and win a coveted College Football National Championship in 2010 but I call for a stumble or even two along the way and a strong number 2 finish for Boise State in 2010.

Florida lost nine players in the 2009 NFL draft. Six of those players went in the first two rounds. And most people would think that Florida has a hard road ahead of it in 2010 but I not only think they will  put it all together in 2010 but I also think Florida will walk away in 2010 with the College Football National Championship. Yes I think Florida is going to take it all and I think their going to put on quite a show getting there.

John Brantley the Florida Quarterback is already on most people Heisman Watch List. And Brantley is surrounded by a veteran offensive line filled with players on their way to the NFL. John Brantley I believe will win or come very close to winning the Heisman and I think Brantley will be the big difference in Florida going to and winning the College Football National Championship.

The two Florida running backs Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps are two of the fastest and best running backs ever. It is the running game that will help to take Florida to a 2010 National Football Championship. And that's one of the main reasons I have Florida at number 1. That and John Brantley.

Alabama stands between Florida and a National Championship. Florida has to win this game to get to the College Football National Championship. And if Florida were to win by 10 or more over Alabama people really would stand up and start to take notice.

I look for a January B.C.S. Championship game against Texas and this game should be one for the ages. A win over Texas gives the College Football National Championship to Florida.
