The Ouija Board And More For Those Interested In The Paranormal
I don't believe that the Ouija Board is inherently evil and in some paranormal investigations it definitely has a place. I have heard plenty of positive and neutral stories about Ouija Boards but it is the horror stories that the public always hear and it is these stories that get passed around and told again and again.
You have to ask yourself why so many paranormal investigators warn against using the Ouija Board to contact spirits when they use all kinds of other means to contact spirits like flashlights , voice recorders , evp meters and more. Why couldn't evil spirits use these items the same way they could use a Ouija Board. I'm sure they could.
We don't know with any absolute certainty what makes a Ouija Board pointer move or how it possible to record unknown voices or sounds with a tape recorder. We really don't have any ideal.
Many people fear Ouija Boards or any contact with them. But I truly believe it is possible for positive messages to come through the Ouija Board. I think a spirit could easily send a message from the other side through a Ouija Board. And I believe in a house or other location with a lot of paranormal activity that a Ouija Board can be used as part of ghost hunting. Especially in a place where it is known or strongly suspected that a ghost or ghosts are known to exist.

Working With A Ouija Board
A Ouija Board can be a positive tool in a paranormal investigation or ghost hunt. If your going to use a Ouija Board in this matter I suggest setting the board up on a solid surface or on the floor. I like to light a circle of candles around the Ouija Board.
Have two people touch the pointer and ask the questions of the Ouija Board. If possible have a camcorder pointed at the Ouija Board so you can document everything going on. Don't horseplay or joke around. Be positive and respectful and you may just have the opportunity to document something important.
I really would have someone working with the Ouija Board to pray the below prayer of protection. If possible have someone to stand back with the camcorder or a camera and document everything that happens. It would also be a great ideal to have a tape recorder recording during this time because you never know what you may catch on audio tape.
Spirits won't contact you every time you use a Ouija Board or in every location but if you keep trying one day you may have a paranormal experience that you will remember for a life time. So always try to document everything you can.
If you think that something bad must happen if you use a Ouija Board then its quite possible that something bad could happen. You need to approach paranormal investigations with care and you need to do it with a positive attitude.
It does not hurt to pray the above prayers with a positive attitude if you are doing paranormal investigations or ghost hunting.
If you use a Ouija Board as part of your paranormal investigation or ghost hunting you really should use the prayers above to insure that you and everyone in your party are protected from evil.
A Check List For Ghost Hunters
1. Do not enter or go to any area where you do not have permission.Do not trespass. If you can not get permission do not enter.
2. If possible try to obtain your permission in writing.This will protect you in case someone calls police.
3. Learn everything possible about the place , house , or location where you plan to conduct a ghost hunt or paranormal investigation. Learn the history of the location. If possible try to verify any story or stories about the location.
4. Approach any paranormal investigation or ghost hunt in a professional manner.Be respectful of your surroundings and leave the area or location in the same way you found it.
5. You will need a camera to take photos with and a camcorder to shoot videos with.
6. You should keep a complete record of any place you investigate. Keep a well written journal of everything you observe and make detailed notes of everything that happens.
7. If possible you need a tape recorder along to record any sounds or voices that may be in the area.
8. Insist that everyone with you carry Photo ID or Drivers License. If you do investigations on a regular basis it would not hurt to name your organization and have photo ID's printed up. If you and the people with you act in a professional manner people will trust you and more doors will open up to you.
9. If you use a Ouija Board as part of your Paranormal Investigation or Ghost Hunting document everything about it as well as possible. And by all means pray the prayer of protection in a positive attitude before you start.
10. Always remember that the more you can document with tape recordings , photos , camcorders , and journals the better off you will be. If you carefully document your evidence the better people will trust you and people will believe you.

This is a compelling read and I was gripped. However like Granny's House not with a Ouja Board. I think it is because I am frightened of them. We were taught as children not to meddle with them. However it didn't stop me enjoying this hub. Thank you so much for sharing. Take care crazyhorseghost.

I have been ghost hunting for many years now and we have been using a Ouija Board for several years now with some success. I think a lot of the horror stories about Ouija Boards may be urban legends.
Yes, I think the movies have something to do with it
Yes movies have given the Ouija Board a bad rap as have urban legends. I think urban legends about the Ouija Board and all the bad things that were supposed to have happened are probably responsible more than anything else.
I recently did the ouija for the first time and it was an experience i will never forget.
I wasnt sure what to expect but wanted to try as i often experience frequent activity in my home which is also witnessed by a few friends and family members.
We successfully managed contact with the spirit i believe is responsible for the activity at home, along with 2 other spirits.
2 out of the 3 where loved ones that have passed.
the 3rd i didnt know but they gave letters naming the person they wanted a message passed to, this person being a close friend of mine.

that's really interesting to know that you had some result from it. I've tried it in the past but didn't get anything. I've read a lot of stuff from science and people saying the ideomotor effect is the cause of movement.
Personally until I see it for myself I'm still skeptical.
i found a ghost named tug in my basement he is six or was six when he died in a barn that colapsed.
very interesting stuff here you see. now what i belive is that there is some kind of energy that all living things leave behind when they die, this energy is my explenation of a "soul". this energy can be absorbed and understanded by the human brain, as the electric signals that goes between brain cells is this energy. now that would mean that there must be some people that can "read" this energy more clear than others. such persons as my self
My daughter and I had an amazingly positive experience with the Ouija board. Too personal to go into in detail, but to sum it up, the love of my life (who passed away in 5/2010) identified himself when we asked the spirit's name. My daughter asked about his dog (who he had said was stolen from him), and he responded "favor." That made no sense. But it made sense that he wouldn't want to answer the question. I asked if he was asking for a favor, and he said yes. I asked what the favor was. He said "remember me." Our "conversation" went on for about 45 minutes, with the answers coming so rapidly, we could barely keep our hands on the white thing that moves. It flew from letter to letter, sometimes changing course before it stopped on a letter - and making curves and turns, which I've never experienced before. When we both were ready to say goodbye, we said we had no more questions, and good night. The white piece started moving again (our fingers were still on it when we said goodnight). My daughter and I were both confused, because we didn't ask anything. Then, the white piece spelled out "I love you" and immediately moved to a blank space above the "Goodbye" on the board, and stopped. Most amazing experience with a Ouija I have EVER had, and I've owned one for over 40 years, although I barely ever use it. This board belongs to my daughter, and we haven't touched it in over 3 years. It was her idea to play with it.
To sum it up, all I felt was positivity and love ... and the answers were so obviously from my loved one. Answers only he would give. Very, very comforting, wonderful experience.
We recently have done a ouija board with a group of friends, we contacted a spirit...we asked it who it was and we came to realise it was our friends great uncle, we felt very safe after hearing that. We asked it personal questions but none that would make it angry, he seemed to answer our questions happily and correct. Some made us cry of how correct he was about us. It told us whos watching over us and made us feel really safe. We said we would come back to it soon and we forgot so we felt like there was someone watching us..and there was a spirit. So we went back to do it and say sorry. After we did it he said it was fine and it was him who was with it, we said goodbye..and were not going to do it for another couple of monthes. We felt like this was a very positive spirit cause it was related to one of our good friends, but we do feel very scared, still.
It was an amazing experience and i would like to do it again, soon . . .
I'm going to an Irish boarding school boarding school next year and my cousin was telling me that there was a dorm with a ouija in it and no-one is allowed to go in their or sleep their to this day
