The Emerald Tree Boa
The Emerald Tree Boa is one of the most beautiful of all the species of Boa's. The Emerald Tree Boa is native to the rain forests of northern South America. The Emerald Tree Boa is a nocturnal species of snake and it spends most of its time up in the tree branches hanging by its tail and watching downwards for prey. Being nocturnal it sleeps through out the day and hunts at night. The Emerald Tree Boa has a slow metabolism and doesn't have to eat as often as other snakes.
The Emerald Tree Boa is extremely fast and can grab its prey faster than almost any other snake. While the snake is non venomous it is not a great snake for a pet as it is very aggressive. This is one that is better to look at in the local zoo.
The Red Sided Garter Snake
The Red Sided Garter Snake is one of the most beautiful species of snake on earth. Its home habitat Point Reyes Pond in California is now gone though the snake is native to other areas in the San Francisco area of California. Most people will agree that the Red Sided Garter Snake is one of the most beautiful colored snakes in the United States.
Blind Snakes
Blind Snakes are found burrowing under the soil of every continent on earth except for Antarctica. Blind Snakes are not really completely blind and it makes one wonder how the snake managed to spread out to every continent on earth. The snake is rarely seen and you might have several living outside in your yard and never see one.
Albino Burmese Python
The Albino Burmese Python is one of the most beautiful snakes on earth. This snake is widely available in the U.S.A. in most large pet shops but think before you buy it. This snake will grow into a very large snake that can be dangerous to the person caring for it. One person should not try to provide care for one of these snakes.
It is sad but when these snakes grow up their owners realize they have a dangerous snake they can not care for and they dump them out in the wild. In most areas of the United States this snake can not live through out the winter however pythons including the Albino Burmese Python have become well established in the Florida Everglades and there is now a large breeding population there.
Madagascar's Bright Pink Snake
The Bright Pink Snake native to Madagascar is one of the most beautiful snakes in the world. The snake grows to about 16 inches long when it is grown and it feeds on small rodents and lizards. The snake was first discovered in 2011 in Masoala National Park in Madagascar.
It is not seen much outside of Madagascar but that may change in time as it is truly one of the most beautiful snakes in the world.
Nelson's Milk Snake
Nelson's Milk Snake is a subspecies of King Snake native to Mexico. It is also one of the most beautiful colored king snakes in the world. This snakes prey is birds, small rodents, and lizards. It is rarely available in the pet trade though from time to time you will find it available.
Blue Coral Snake and American Coral Snake
Both of these snakes are venomous and could potentially kill you with a bite. The American Coral Snake native to the Southeastern United States is easily confused with the Scarlett King Snake which is a non poisonous species. Remember if you ever think a snake might be poisonous leave it alone. Only the experts should handle poison venomous snakes.
Elephant Trunk Snake
The Elephant Trunk Snake is a aquatic snake living in most of Southeast Asia. The photo above of the two Elephant Trunk Snakes was taken in Thailand. The Elephant Trunk Snake is truly one of the world's most amazing snakes and the snake feeds mostly on fish. If you were looking for one of the most unusual species of snake I don't think you could find a more unusual species.
The Leaf Nosed Snake
If you were looking for one of the world's most unusual snakes then the leaf nosed snake would have to be on your list. It is truly one of the weirdest reptiles in the world and it feeds mostly on lizards. Native to Southeast Asia it can be found in zoo's and collections around the world.
The Horned Nose Viper
The Horned Nose Viper is usually found in the desserts of Israel hiding beside a gerbil hole waiting for one of its favorite prey the gerbil to come along. The Horned Nose Viper is a venomous snake and can be found in zoo's around the world. However its unlikely that your ever going to find one in nature.

I don't understand why so many people are afraid of snakes. While some of the snakes on this page are venomous and should be avoided not all are. Keeping a snake as a pet can be fun and interesting. Just do plenty of research and know exactly what kind of snake you are getting and learn exactly what you need to do to care for it.

Wow! Voted up + awesome!
I haven't heard of the elephant trunk snake - what an amazing animal. And the Madagascar pink snake, and red-sided garter snake are superb.Having said that all the snakes you have in the hub are beautiful. As humans we might be good at getting artifical colours but nothing compares to the natural colours that Mother Nature gives to her animals.
Wow great photos and yes indeed I think you could say these are the 10 most unusual snakes on earth. Several there that I hope never to meet. Crazyhorsesghost you do great work.
I love snakes, they are so cute!
I just love the videos you added. Simply amazing is really all I can say. I like the one of the head.
It's such a shame that because of poorly educated people buying and releasing burmese pythons that now it's illegal to transport them over state lines. They're such beautiful snakes! Especially the Granite Albino Burm... Never let a snake free in the wild! There's plenty of snake and reptile rescues everywhere. (I run one as well. ;) ) Beautiful Hub!

Awesome!!! I remember a show on the blind snakes that live underground. It was really very eerie--you couldn't see them at all, but if you were very still and listened, you could HEAR them.
All of these snake photos are very beautiful. I'm slowly changing my mind about snakes, still, I'd much rather appreciate their beauties in photos than in person!
