Shopping At Spartunburg South Carolina Thrift Shops and Consignment Shops
Many people miss all the great festivals and events that are only a few miles to a hundred miles or less from their home and if you've never been there you want to check out Spartanburg South Carolina and be sure to check out their Spring Fling that will be April 30th - May 2 in 2010.
And yes I know why your here. Thrift Shops and Consignment Shops and Spartanburg South Carolina has plenty of them for you to shop at and enjoy. And in the summer time especially you don't want to miss all the Flea Markets and Yard Sales in the Spartanburg area. Here is where having a Tom Tom or other GPS device will come in real handy. You can usually purchase a local newspaper in most areas with the yard sales for Friday and Saturday listed in it but other than the address most people don't give you great directions to their yard sale. But if you have the address of the yard sale you can enter it in the Tom Tom or other GPS devise and it will take you right to a yard sale you might have missed.
And if your into Consignment Shops and Thrift Shops then Spartanburg is a great city for you as there are plenty of great shops to choose from. And remember in most Thrift Shops and some Consignment Shops you can get the workers in the shop to negotiate with you on prices. If you visit a certain Thrift Shop on a regular basis you can keep your eye on a item you might buy if it wasn't for the price you feel is to high and when its been there for a week or two tell the shop manager you know I would like to have that but its to high. You can make a offer or wait and see if your offered the item at a lower price after you make a comment about it.
Never be afraid to try to negotiate prices as in these harder economic times Thrift Shops sales are down and you may be able to pick up some real bargains especially if you offer to buy several items if you can get a discount on the items. And seriously if your buying several items they should offer you 20 - 25 percent off the original prices. You can also quite often do the same thing at consignment shops especially if your offering to buy several items.
If a Thrift Shop is open on Saturday afternoons and you really want to negotiate on the price of a item or items this has always seemed to me to be a great time to give it a try. Quite often they may have had a week of slow sales and may be more willing to negotiate on prices because they may have bills facing them at the first of the week that they need cash for. Sales also tend to be lower at Thrift Shops and Consignment Shops towards the end of the month so that may be a great time to try to negotiate on prices.
You may also want to place some of your items in consignment shops for some extra cash or if you have some nicer clothing items you no longer want offer to trade or just sell the items to the consignment shop. Quite often even the consignment shops that say they don't purchase anything will if you offer the item or items to them at a good price. And its always great to make some extra cash isn't it.

Tips For Having A Better Thrift Shop Experience
1. If your buying clothing at Thrift Shops be sure to check for stains , rips , tears , missing buttons or zippers that don't work. Defective items should not be sold by Thrift Shops unless they are clearly marked as defective.
2. You can remove ink stains from price markers from glass or stoneware with fingernail polish remover on a ball of cotton.
3. Take a sewing measuring tape with you when you visit Thrift Shops in case the size tag is missing or cut out of pants.
4. Take a magnifying glass with you when you are visiting Thrift Shops or Yard Sales so you can see little size text on items or check items for almost hidden cracks.
5. Don't be afraid to barter on prices especially at Thrift Shops and Yard Sales. Make a offer and you may buy it at that price or at least cheaper than the price on the item.
6. Ask at chain Thrift Shops like Good Will and Salvation Army when their sales days are or do they have a day of the week with senior discounts. You won't know a lot of these things unless you ask.
7. Go to Thrift Shops when you have time to shop. Your probably going to want to find the best buys so you may have to go through the racks of clothing to find exactly what you want.
