If your looking for one of the most beautiful places on earth you can't possibly go wrong by choosing to visit Phuket Thailand. It is a island with two bridges connecting it to the mainland of Thailand and while a lot of people have now discovered Phuket it is still one of the most beautiful places in the world to visit.

Be Sure To Visit Kamala Thailand

Phuket Town is the administration center of the province and the heaviest concentration of population on the island. But if I was you and I was going to visit Phuket I would head for Kamala which is on the west side of Phuket on the beach and if you want your life slower paced and your on a budget this is the place for you. And while the southern end of the beach can get busy during the high part of the season the northern part of the beach is quite year round. if your traveling on a low budget check out the many 20 - 30 room hotels on Beach Road on the southern end of the beach. You will also find a lot of restaurants and bars in this same area. If your here to enjoy the beach this is the place to do it. And if you want something even cheaper you'll find market stalls and other locations on the main Kamala road. If you want to sample true authentic Thai cuisine on a budget this is the place to go.

The beaches in this area are also quite nice and most of the time you'll find them uncrowded. At the southern end of the beach is the Kamala Wat which is the Buddhist Temple. With help from Australia the temple and its grounds have been restored since the tsunami. The local Buddhists and Monks welcome curious foreigners and will be glad to show you around and answer questions. You are permitted to take photos of the temple and the surrounding area as long as you are accompanied by a local. The walls of the temple are a beautiful story of the life of Buddha.There are pictures and other things from the tsunami on display which the monks will be glad to show you and explain. There is a memorial garden to the tsunami with a memorial tree and a dedication plaque. It really is a beautiful presentation that it is very enlightening.

If you look at the below collection of photos you'll see the quality of the beaches you will be visiting and this area is extremely clean and beautiful. You won't find much prettier beaches any where else in the world.

Be Sure To Go Diving In Kamala

If you want to go diving the Kamala Dive Center has great half day trips to dive sites around Kamala like Kamala Rock with all kinds of beautiful fish to see. Ask to see the wreck of the Tin Lizzy which was a dredging ship that is now home to beautiful exotic fish. They also have plenty of other locations to show you some in very shallow water. You will find that the dives are done by Long Boat and most of the year their won't be a lot of other divers along on the trip.

Some things you may want to bring along are extra memory cards for your digital camera or camcorder. I really suggest waiting until you get back home before you print your photos off. This is why I suggest bringing along extra memory cards.

Find And Pay For Your Own Hotel Rooms In Kamala

Let me caution you here not to let the taxi driver or someone at the airport in Bangkok book your hotel for you in advance. Wait until you arrive in Kamala no matter what you are told. Many people have been ripped off this way so insist that you will get your hotel room yourself once you arrive in Kamala. Or tell them you already have reservations that you have already paid for. Be firm but do not give anyone money for a hotel you have not seen. If you do it may not even exist. Tourists in Bangkok have paid for hotel rooms in pictures of a hotel they were shown only to later find out that the pictures of the hotel they were being shown was a hotel in the U.S. Florida Keys. So you have been warned.

Don't Fall For Scams And Don't Buy Illegal Drugs

As far as safety goes use common sense. Do not fall for a scam. Do not buy illegal drugs or jewels. The same person who sells you illegal drugs may five minutes later point you out to the police. So let me say again. Use common sense. You are not going to buy jewels for a few dollars that are going to be extremely valuable back home in the United States. Your only going to get ripped off and you may go to jail for smuggling.

Now with all that out of the way let me say if you visit Kamala you'll find that your in one of the most beautiful places on earth The northern part of the beach at Kamala to me is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. You can visit here on a budget and have a really great time. I would suggest coming to Kamala from Bangkok by bus. Ask around in Bangkok for where you can get a bus to Kamala and if the first bus to come along is crowded wait for the next one. And remember don't let anyone in Bangkok book rooms for you in Kamala. Tell them you already have paid for and booked reservations. Then when you get to the southern end of Kamala beach look for your own hotel room.

Take The Local Open Sided Bus For Adventure

The open sided local bus runs along the Kamala road every hour and is cheap. You can get on it any where along its route. Just flag down the bus and it will stop. Get on the bus through the back and get off through the front. You pay the driver when you get off. You can take the open sided bus all the way into Phuket Town and come back the same way. Just ask the driver how late the bus will run so you can take it back to the area of your hotel at Kamala.

Restaurants

You will find a lot of restaurants directly on the beach at Kamala and most of them are very good. If you like Thai food and seafood then you are in the perfect place. Most of the seafood is caught locally and it will be on display on ice out front. Just pick out your seafood and it will be cooked and served to you. The prices are quite reasonable also. If you want breakfast try either the Rockfish or the Kamala Bakery. Both serve a delicious low priced breakfast. If you want steaks or pizza you have to find the Salt and Pepper Restaurant. Their food is good and you get a lot of it for the money. Three Bars you'll want to find and visit are the Welsh Bar, Bobs, and The Aussie Bar. All three are clean friendly places where you can enjoy yourself.
