Is your house haunted? Mine is.
At age 18 I had the experience of having my Grandmother who had died recently start to appear in front of me and she went on a several years campaign to terrorize my father. She eventually drove him from the house and I no longer saw her. In life my Grandmother who was my Mom's Mother and my Father did not get along. And I think when she died she had unfinished business with my Father and she came back again and again to try to finish it.
A couple of years ago I moved in the house I currently live in and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my house came with a ghost. In fact I am almost positive it is the ghost of a older lady who died in my bedroom in 1951. When I moved in the house I did not know that this lady had died in my bedroom. I was to find that out later.
I and my girlfriend have always had the ability to see things that other people can not see. Shortly after moving into my house we would pull into the yard and see a small little lady with her hair up in a bun looking out my kitchen window.
And at times especially if the house is real quite we would hear her singing there in the house. The sound of the singing would seem to come from the attic area and later I learned that when the lady was alive that the attic was her special secret place and she used to set there for hours in front of a open window and read.
One day I happened to be in a store near my house and I was telling the man about my ghost. A lady in the store heard me talking about the ghost and she began to question me. I told her about the ghost of the frail older lady with her hair up in a bun and I saw her face grow white. She blurted out that I was describing her great grandmother.
She went on to tell me that she lived in the house for several years and she never experienced anything in the house. She said at times she felt like someone was watching her in the house but that was it.
However we have had several people visit our house who see the ghost of the little old lady and they hear her singing. I think people have to have a open mind or they don't see anything. Or quite possibly they see something but just tell themselves there is nothing there.
The Axe Murder House Of Newberry S.C.
At the above Boundary Street house in Newberry South Carolina one of the most brutal murders ever was committed. A man and his wife were chopped to pieces with a axe on Christmas morning 1939 and the person or persons who committed the axe murders was never found.
Not only did the murderer chop the couple to pieces with a broad axe but then they took their own hands and placed bloody hand prints up and down the houses interior stair steps and all around the walls inside the house. They then went on to hang some of the couples body parts up over the upstairs balcony and they put the couples heads in the stove in the kitchen where they were cooking when the couples maid came in later that morning. The poor maid had to be hospitalized for days after finding what she did.
And not long afterward people who tried to clean up the property were chased from the property when they said the head of a woman would roll down the steps and land at their feet. Some people claimed to see the bloody hand prints still on the walls even though the old wall paper had been torn down and new wallpaper put up. Many people in the neighborhood reported hearing screams of horror coming from the house when the house was locked up and no one was inside.
The house set empty for a number of years but I was finally able to get permission to go in the house in October of 2001. I was given the front door key and I and a friend went into the house and while we did not see a head roll down the steps we did hear footsteps that were very clearly coming from up stairs but when we used our flashlights and searched up stairs no one was there. And suddenly the sound of the footsteps were back only now the sounds of the footsteps were downstairs on the first floor where we had been when we first heard them.
As we approached the third floor a door ahead of us that we could see closed on its own and we heard near us the sound of something very heavy being thrown down on the floor.
We heard voices above us and went on into the third floor area and searched it very thoroughly but there was no one there. In the front room on the third floor something shoved me hard from behind. I clearly felt two hands on my back and they shoved me very hard and my friend the only other living breathing person was in front of me so there is no way he could have shoved me.
We eventually made our way back down and out the front door. The next day the houses owner questioned us carefully about what had happened to us in the house and we were supposed to be able to reenter the house at a later date with camera equipment and etc but a few days later the owner sold the house and the new owner refused to allow us back into the house.
The house was very clearly haunted and I would love to get back into the house someday if it was possible. There are a lot of things going on in that house that could be documented.

Is your house haunted? Do you know what to watch for and how to decide if your house is really indeed haunted or is it just your imagination. Check out the below to find out for sure if your house is haunted or is there a logical explanation.
1. Do you have unexplained noises like voices, sounds of footsteps where there is no human to make them, sounds of something being dropped or thrown.
First of all if at all possible try to get someone else to hear the same strange sound or sounds that you are hearing. Check out radios, TV's, and etc to make absolutely sure that nothing is turned on. If in doubt if you have the courage turn all the power off in your house to make sure their is no logical solution for your noises.
2. Do you have doors that seem to open or close on their own? This can include almost any type of door. Everything from house doors to cabinet doors. Why is the door opening and closing on its own.
First of all is their a logical explanation. If you just moved into a house ask your self if possibly a door could be opened or closed by for instance the change in pressure when your heat or air conditioning goes off or on. Is the door moving because when you open it the weight of the door is closing it. Big trucks going down a road in front of a house close to a highway has been known to cause doors to pop open and the person living in that house was convinced they had a ghost until we showed them what was really going on.
3. Lights that turn off and on by themselves.
This one can be the real proof that a house is haunted or there can be a easy explanation for why the touch light in the bedroom turns on or off every day at 5.15 P.M. In one case we found that a house in the direct flight path of a airport was having its touch lights turned off and on by low flying planes. At another a neighbor installed a electronic garage door opener almost a mile away and it would turn off or on the neighbors big screen T.V. And then we had the house where a bedroom lamp would go off and on by its self and even when the light was replaced it still did the same thing. We could even get the light to turn off or on when we asked for it to happen. This one was for sure a haunting.
4. Unexplained Shadows or Almost Seeing Someone.
Do you often think that you see the movement of someone out of the corner of your eye when you know for a fact that there is no one there. Sometimes you will see the shadow of a person where there is a ghost but you won't see a person or a ghost. Just the shadow of something or someone that was once there.
5. Unusual Strange Animal Behavior.
Does Rover or Fluffy act like they see something you can't see. I once lived in a house where my cat would seem to play for hours with something I could not see. I just thought the cat was crazy until one day its invisible friend jumped on the bed with me as Fluffy was running from it.
Or is there a room or area in your house where Fluffy or Rover refuse to go or do they bristle up if you try to carry them into that area or that room. Wonder whats there that they can see that you can't. I have had this to happen with my cats. I once lived in a house where a very brutal murder had happened in one room and my cats refused to enter that room even though the murder had occurred over 100 years before.
6. Cold Spots or Hot Spots
Does your house have unexplained hot spots or cold spots. First of all look around for the easy solution. Is there a leak from your heating or air conditioning duct. Or is there a furnace or air conditioning vent located under a bed or other piece of furniture. Those are two of the big explanations we found for cold and hot spots.
If you do have a cold or hot spot look for obvious drafts that may be caused by certain doors being opened or closed. Always first look for and eliminate all the logical things that could be causing cold or hot spots. Once you have eliminated all the logical explanations and you still have unexplained cold spots or hot spots you may very well have a haunted house.
7. Do you have unexplained smells?
Is their a smell of fragrance or flowers where you know for a fact there should be no smell like that. Then you may have a ghost or two. But be careful of the logical solutions like a scented candle setting to close to your electric stove or the neighbor putting on cologne and the smell coming over or under the wall of your bedroom. Don't just assume that their is no way you could smell the neighbors cologne because I've seen it happen time and time again.
Its rarer but you may also have a really bad smell. Even the smell of decay. If you have a smell like this be sure to check for the logical solutions first of all. And then once you have eliminated all the possible logical solutions you will know if you have a smell caused by a haunting.
More Ghost And Paranormal Information.
Keep in mind that all ghosts are not going to jump out and say boo. If you have a residual haunting keep in mind you may see the same thing each and every time you see it. Like for instance I know of a spot in Charleston South Carolina where a man and a dog are almost always seen crossing the road almost exactly at the spot where they got run over and killed over 80 years ago. Residual hauntings are the most common form of a haunting.
A ghost that can interact with you and has its intelligence is a much rarer haunting. Though I know of several places in South Carolina where this type of ghost is appearing nightly. The ghosts of animals are rarer still but they do happen. In one South Carolina Cemetery a black horse pulling a horse drawn hearse has been seen for at least 100 years.
I myself know that ghosts do exist. I have seen and heard them for the past 50 years and I am 100 percent certain of their existence. And if you had seen the things I have seen in my life you would be convinced also. Just know that ghosts and restless spirits are all around us.

Would be really interested 2 know if my house is haunted. When my boyfriend visits me at home, a very strong rotten smell suddenly comes in my bedroom, but it also goes away in a split second leaving absolutely no trace of any smell. The smell seems to be able to choose it's location within the room & not always in the same place, but it is always within my bedroom. Until very recent,the smell never ever came when there was just myself in the room but lately on a couple of occasions I have smelled it while being alone. I felt intimidated & now apprehensive wondering if it is a demonic smell, is it building up 2 doing other things? Has anyone else experienced this? Or know info about this type of thing?

Love this hub. I am an intuitive and have mediumship ablility and I lived in a haunted house for 2 years and it even freaked me out a bit. I am writing a book on the topic, read cards and constantly study metaphysics and yet my house was a bit un-nerving. I have taken a "ghost busting class" and even have some of the equipment. In some cases it is easy to live among spirit and in others they can be fiesty. I had a few in the house I live in now and actually went through a process of getting them to leav eand for the most paty all has been quiet for years. I think so many homes have the spirit living in them. My only issue is that when they are earthbound they really need to crossover and not be stuck here. A visit or two is great but a spirit stuck here must go. Good hub!
