While there are ways to lose weight quickly you should keep in mind that losing weight to quickly can be dangerous to your health. And yes fad diets , diet pills and going on a fast can cause you to lose weight quickly it can also cause harm to your body and unfortunately when most people lose weight quickly they put it back on just as fast and quite often people gain back more weight than they took off. You can also lose muscle mass and even damage your heart or other organs if you try to lose weight to fast.
Don't go for the fast weight loss fix. Instead you want to follow these steps in order to take the extra weight off and keep it off.

First of all you want to determine your daily calorie intake. In order to lose weight you must use up more calories than you take in. And to start with its important to know what your eating and the best way to do this is to keep a journal of your daily eating habits being sure to write down everything you eat. Do this for about a week and then set down and take a good hard long look at what you are consuming on a daily basis. Don't forget to write down that sugar that goes in your coffee every morning and that jelly you put on your biscuit.
Do a itemized daily count of your calorie intake. Purchase a book that has the calories for almost everything listed in it or do your calorie research on the Internet and try to keep a daily count of the amount of calories you are taking in on a daily basis. Again don't miss the small things. Don't leave anything off your daily calorie count. Be sure to write this information down daily in your daily journal where you are writing down what you are eating on a daily basis.
Okay about a week after you start keeping your daily journal do a self review. Go over your journal and your daily added up calories and think about what foods you can leave off or cut out in order to lose weight. You want to especially identify the high fat , high calorie foods and these are the foods you want to cut out or cut way back on if you want to lose weight and keep it off. Below are some great things you can do to lose weight and keep it off.
1. If you drink soft drinks switch to diet soft drinks only.
2. Have your coffee black instead of with cream and sugar.
3. Switch from white bread to whole wheat bread.
4. Keep in mind that to lose weight you must eat less than you were when you were putting on the weight. You don't have to buy those weight loss books or tapes just eat less.
5. If possible have a weight loss buddy and call each other for support. If you feel your going to binge call your weight loss buddy and yell help.Talk over your weight loss problems with each other.
6. Avoid Fast Food as much as possible. If you have to eat fast food go with Japanese or Chinese and eat as much rice as possible.
7. Avoid weighing yourself everyday. Your only going to get discouraged if you try to weigh yourself every day. Instead weigh yourself at most once a week and always as near to the same day and time as possible.
8. Have a daily calorie ceiling that your not going to go over. If you say your not going to go over 2000 calories a day then try your very best to stick to it. But know this its not the end of the world if you do go over. Because believe me there are going to be days when your going to go over your daily calorie ceiling.
9. Start adding more and more walking into your daily life. Its okay if you start with walking all the way around your house the first day. Try to walk every day if possible and try to add just a few more feet each day.
Its very important to know and understand that in order to lose weight your going to have to eat less and it will really help if you add walking or other low stress exercise into your daily routine.
If you don't now eat fish and chicken you need to add both into your food intake plan as both are low fat and there's just so many ways that you can cook and prepare fish and chicken.
Be Sure To Keep Going With Your Daily Weight Loss Journal
Write down the triggers that cause you to binge or over eat. Now what you need to do is to learn ways you can avoid those triggers. Figure out things you can do if you feel or see yourself going to get into trouble with your weight loss plans. You can also use your daily journal to make plans about where you can make changes in your eating habits or daily lifestyle to improve your chances at being a success with your weight loss plans.
Breakfast Is So Important For Your Long Term Weight Loss Plans
You need to retrain yourself about breakfast and get this even if you do not eat breakfast now you need to start. And start soon. You want to eat Yogurt , Oatmeal , Fresh Fruit and Fruit Smoothies for breakfast. This doesn't mean that you can't never again have bacon and eggs for breakfast it just means you need to start eating healthier if you want your long term weight loss to be successful. You will also find that if you eat breakfast every morning you will be less hungry later in the day.
Go Shopping When Your Not Hungry
Do your grocery shopping when you are not hungry and you will be less tempted to purchase the comfort foods that do not fit in with your long term weight loss plans. You want to take time to plan your meals and what your going to be eating say tomorrow. This way you will already have plans for supper tomorrow night and you will be less tempted by the fast food and the oh so delicious pizza. You can still have pizza sometime just not the whole pizza like you used to do. If you do well with your weight loss plans then reward your self from time to time with a slice of pizza or one doughnut. I no longer take home a box of doughnuts but I may take home one doughnut. These are the kind of life style changes you must make in order to make your weight loss successful long term.

Believe it or not but if your serious about weight loss and you really want to keep the weight off long term then you need to learn to eat healthy snacks. You can try.
1. Celery Sticks With Peanut Butter.
2. Carrot Sticks.

Might I also suggest that those serious about losing weight add some simple body weight exercises to their daily routine. Walking , running, and jogging are good low impact exercises but actually burn few calories. A recent study showed that during the entire 26 miles of the Boston Marathon racers burned only about 2800 calories. That's alot but when you consider the effort involved its not a very effective way to do it. Weight training is the best way to burn calories and shed excess fat. There is no need for a gym or even weights. Use your own body as the resistance and combine this with walking and careful food management and I promise you the pounds will melt off.
