Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

Have you ever had a molten chocolate lava cake. If not then you need to stop now and read the recipe. Walk out of the house right now and go to the nearest grocery store for the ingredients you need to make molten chocolate lava cake. I promise you that you'll thank me later. Below is a great pan for making the molten chocolate lava cakes in. If you don't have one of these pans you should take the time to check them out because they are wonderful pans. Spray your pan with a good quality vegetable cooking spray before you make your lava cakes and they will turn out perfect every time.

You can make your molten chocolate lava cake with chocolate syrup or you can jazz things up a bit and add raspberries and raspberry sauce. I think you will find the presentation of a chocolate lava cake served on a white dessert plate with raspberry sauce and fresh raspberries to be oh so delicious. Some people add sprigs of fresh mint or powdered sugar to the dish to take it up to another level. Some people even add a tablespoon of raspberry preserves to the center of their little cakes.

Some people make the molten chocolate lava cakes in small ramekins and I am also now seeing them made in cup cake pans. But however you choose to make your molten chocolate lava cake I guarantee you that you'll love the cake.

Some Chefs claim the first Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes were made in New York City while Chefs in France say that the cake has been made in France for over 100 years. I won't get into the argument of who made the first molten chocolate lava cake but I will tell you exactly how to make the cake so you can enjoy it there at home.

Can't you just imagine dipping your spoon into the center of that cake and how it will taste once you taste it. Its oh so delicious.

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake Recipe

If you have a pan like the one above or a similar pan your going to want to spray your pan with a good quality vegetable cooking spray before you pour your lava cake batter into the pan. You can if you wish use a muffin pan or cup cake pan to make these molten chocolate lava cakes in. Line your muffin or cup cake pan with paper cup cake papers and the below recipe will allow you to fill 10 cups. Just be sure that you don't overcook your molten chocolate lava cakes or you won't have any lava. And believe me the lava is very important.

You will want to get started by heating your oven to 425 degrees and be sure it is at that temperature before you put your lava cakes into the oven. If your going to be doing a lot of baking you should buy a heavy duty oven thermometer for your oven. A lot of home ovens are way off on their temperature so be sure to check your oven.

For Your Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes You Will Need

1. Four Squares Bakers Semi Sweet Chocolate.

2. One Half Cup Butter.

3. One Cup Powdered Sugar.

4. Two Large Eggs.

5. Two Egg Yolks.

6. Six Tablespoons Flour.

7. One Half Cup Thawed Whip Topping.

You will want to put your chocolate and butter into a large microwave safe bowl and microwave until the chocolate and butter is completely melted. Now you will want to stir in your sugar and then stir in your eggs and egg yolks. Now whisk in your flour.Be sure to stir up from the bottom of the bowl and make sure that all your ingredients are very well mixed together.

Now pour or ladle your batter out into your pan or cup cake papers. If you are using cup cake papers divide the batter up between 10 paper cup cake cups. Now you will want to bake for 12 to 14 minutes until the sides are firm but the centers are still soft. Remove the pan from the oven and let it stand one minute before taking the cakes out of the pan.

Now you will want a can of Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and you will want to heat your syrup until it is hot. Put one of the little cakes out in the center of a dessert dish and put a ladle of the hot chocolate syrup over the top of the little molten chocolate lava cake.

I often serve the little molten chocolate lava cakes topped with whipped topping but you can go as simple or as elaborate as you like. For a friends wedding party I served each little lava cake on a bed of chocolate syrup and raspberry glaze and I put a few fresh raspberries on each little dessert plate. When people see the little lava cakes made this way they go WOW!. And then when they cut into their little lava cake and molten chocolate lava runs out they just go wild. I promise you that these are some of the best molten chocolate lava cakes that you will ever taste. If you make them please tell me how they turn out for you and thanks for reading my Hub Page on Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes.
