Homemade Doggie Treats

With all the recent troubles with dogs being killed by Pet Food I thought I would share some great recipes for Doggie Treats. And dogs love them.

Making Doggie Biscuits

The Following Ingredients Will Be Needed

1/4 Cup of Rye Flour

1 & 3/4 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour

3/4 Cup of Bulgar Wheat

1/2 Cup of Corn Meal

1/2 Cup of Brewers Yeast From Health Food Store

1 Teaspoon of Dry Yeast

1/2 Cup of Whole Milk

1/4 Cup of Warm Tap Water

1 Cup Of Canned Chicken Broth

1/4 Cup Of Dry Parsley

1 Large Beaten Egg

Place the warm water and dry yeast in a bowl and stir until all the yeast is dissolved. Then add the chicken broth. Place the flours , brewers yeast , Bulgar wheat , milk , cornmeal and parsley into another bowl and mix well. Stir the liquid mixture into the dry mixture and mix well into stiff dough. If the dough is to difficult to work with add a small amount of warm water to loosen it up. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness and then cut with round cookie cutter into biscuits. Place the doggie biscuits onto a cookie sheet and lightly glaze with well beaten egg. Bake at 300 degrees for 40 minutes. Turn the oven off and allow the biscuits to remain in the oven over night to thoroughly dry out. Store in a closed container.

These dog biscuits will keep well for a month in a tightly closed container. If you make them in large batches you can freeze them easily between sheets of wax paper in a square plastic container. Stored between wax paper they will be easy to remove from the freezer and use when you need them.

One Of The Funniest Dog Videos Ever

My Dog Has Cat Fleas

Fleas are usually brought into your home by your pet or a visitors pet. If you find or see one flea there are probably 100 more near by that you don't see but you will feel when they bite. Do you know that fleas that can jump 150-200 times the length of their body. And unfortuntly one pair of fleas can produce up to more fleas. Imagine the math. They are truly little vampires and love almost any warm blooded animal and yes humans to.

The most common flea is the cat flea which yes can be and often is found on your dog. It would be best to treat areas that fleas may frequent before you end up with a severe flea problem. The fleas breed rapidly and are just as happy to feed on you as they are to feed on your pets. And they reproduce rapidly. If you have a really bad indoor infestation of fleas you may have to bomb your house or apartment with flea bombs about two weeks apart. This is because the fleas lay eggs and the eggs hatch when people or animals walk around in the room where they are.

Vitamin B To The Rescue

Give your Dog a vitamin B supplement and the fleas will flee the Dog. They will not stay on a Dog on Vitamin B supplement.

Ticks

You can keep your Dog tick free by taking an entire basil plant , crush it up and boil it in 2 quarts of water. Allow it to cool and set there for two hours before you strain it and bottle it in a spray bottle. Spray your Dog with it when your he or she is outdoors. You can also use the same spray on yourself and your children to prevent ticks from getting on you. Also plant a row of Sweet Basil in your yard or a few in your flower beds to keep ticks out of your yard.

Parasites

If you add some powdered pumpkin seeds and a small amount of fresh garlic to your Dogs food he or she will never have worms.

Sage To The Rescue

Plant sage around your yard in the corner of flower beds or in the border areas to prevent fleas and ticks in your yard.
