My House Is Haunted , How About Yours?
For over thirty years I have investigated ghosts and paranormal activity and over time as the years have drifted past I have come to know that their are ghosts and other paranormal activity all around us. You may ask the question , if there are ghosts why do I not see them? And I truly believe I can answer that question. I truly believe that there are people who for one reason or another that can see ghosts and there are people that for what ever reason that can not. What is the reason that some people can see ghosts and other paranormal activity and others can not is a answer I do not have.
I Live In A Haunted House
Yes I live in a haunted house. Almost on a daily basis there is some form of paranormal activity that goes on in my house. I have a large brass bird that was purchased at Myrtle Beach about a five hour drive from my home. I use the bird which weighs about 10 pound to hold a door closed that goes out onto my back porch area that is enclosed. Quite often I find that heavy 10 pound brass bird moved away from that door and out into the middle of my living room. You have to understand that this quite often happens when I am the only person in the house. Quite often the bird is moved 20 feet away from the door and all the way to the other side of the room. The brass bird is not moving on its own. It really sounds like typical poltergeist activity but I have other strange things that go on in my home also.
I did not know the history of my house for some time but now I do. My house was built by a man and wife just after the civil war. At one time my house was a farm house with a working farm around it. Over the years the land around it was sold off and some of the buildings were torn down. I had to tear down the old smoke house and the old outdoor toilet after I moved here. The old barn remains to this day.
When there is a thunderstorm you can hear singing coming from the room above my living room that can only be reached by a ladder. I at first thought it was a woman singing but later I found out it was a old man who had lived up there around 1900 who was doing the singing. He was the hired hand of the couple who built the house and he died up there in the room above my living room. His grave is in the bushes at the back of my property now. His singing up there may be a residual haunting but you only hear it when there is a thunderstorm going on. The story goes that the old man was frightened of thunderstorms and his singing was the way he dealt with thunderstorms.
I and my girlfriend were coming back to the house just after I moved in the house and she pointed out a figure of a old woman looking out my kitchen windows. At first we thought someone was in the house but the house was securely locked and there was no one in the house when we came inside. However many many times I have seen the old woman looking out those kitchen windows. Later on I was given a description of the old lady who first lived in this house and she matched the old lady we see looking out the kitchen window in every way.
So yes it appears that my house is haunted by at least two ghosts and maybe more. I don't know if it is one of these ghosts who moves the bird but someone or something quite often moves the bird. I also hear footsteps where there are no people and my cat plays with someone who is not there. I have had someone walk into the room with me and tap me on the shoulder many times. It still spooks me when it happens. But I have never seen anything when it happens.
My House Is Haunted , How About Yours?
I wish everyone knew the same as me that ghosts do indeed exist. I know for a absolute fact that my house is haunted. My cat was just in the room where the bird is playing with his invisible friend. I really do believe my cat is playing with the ghost of the woman who first lived in my house. I quite often hear him in the kitchen meowing to be given cat food the same as he does me when I go into the kitchen. And my cat is anything but a stupid cat. So I know he sees something or someone in the kitchen.
I quite often find my safety lock chains unlocked when I check them after I know for a fact that I locked them earlier. And I am the only one in the house besides the cat and he could not even reach the safety lock chain if he tried.
Someone knocks on my front door quite often but when you go check there is no one there. There is also quite often the smell of pipe smoke in my house when there is no one smoking. And I often see shadow people in and around my house.

That is sooo creepy! You are a pretty strong person to be able to live with ghosts. I think if you have good energy around you then nothing can get to you. Thanks for sharing.
I've never experienced anything like this anywhere, yet both of my kids say they've seen apparitions as has my ex. I can only assume it's something that can be inherited.
I've never seen or heard a ghost before either, my mother and sister claim to have. I tried to someone one when I was yound (and stupid) but it didn't work. I would love to visit a house like yours and see for myself if there are ghosts one day, but I sure would't want to live in one. I admire your courage. Especially since the old lady plays with your cat. If she can play with it and move stuff, she can get angry and hurt you as well. Love your hub.
You handle it well. I agree with ghomefitness, it would freak me out. Though they seem like fairly amicable ghosts, don't they? Maybe just lonely and stuck between worlds, not hostile, really.
My 2 year old son goes by the door to our guest room, stops, and says, "Hi, Aunt Carrie." He looks up at the ceiling fan in the living room and waves then says, "Bye, Aunt Carrier." My wife and I just look at each other, not making a big deal out of it. Carrie is my wife's sister who was killed in a car accident 6 years ago.
I have an office chair in the guest room he says is Grandpa's chair. He doesn't call any of his grandfathers Grandpa but both my wife's grandfathers were called grandpa. Thing is one died over forty years ago and the other over thirty years ago.
My wife has seen shadows in his room and he sometimes happily talks and plays with someone he calls Grandpa. It freaked her out at first but there was nothing violent about any of this. It doesn't seem to be bothering or hurting our son so I told her not to worry about it.
Good hub. Interesting story. Try videoing the bird while you're gone to see what happens.
Good Story man.......U really have Guts...God Bless
I honestly don't think I have ever lived in a place that wasn't haunted, except maybe the tent.
In the house I grew up in there was an entity that walked the hallway that connected the bedrooms. It would stand outside the doors and listen too. When we were little, we thought it was our mom. There is another one that stomps up and down the stairs, moves the doors to the medicine cabinet and shakes the bottle of IB profrine, every evening. We always thought that was dad, until we heard it happening while he was talking to us.
The house I live in now has plenty of activity. Usually, it is little things, like lights turning on and off and pebbles dropping, but once a mirror was picked up off the table and slammed onto the floor. Another time a belt swung up into the air and whacked a child across the back, leaving a welt.
I don't see things, but I hear and feel them. One evening while I was listening to music and using my computer I heard footsteps coming up behind me, then felt someone looking over my right shoulder. I thought it was my oldest son, because he does that type of thing, so I asked, "What are you doing out of bed?" I heard a man laughing, then he asked, "Do you like this song?" I spun around to see who was there, but there was no one, then I heard the voice again, "Do you like it?" I assured him that I did and could feel that he was happy.
Wow i loved this hub. I have never seen a ghost myself but the whole subject fascinates me.

That would freak me out. My friend lived in a house where a woman hung herself and would tell me stories of weird stuff happening. When I was a kid I slept over and sleeeping was something I did not due well.
