Lots of people don't know that adult acne exists and then one day up pops a pimple and they wonder what in the world can they so about the pimple they suddenly find themselves with. Many people don't have the first ideal of how to treat adult acne.
Most people tend to think that acne only occurs when people are teenagers and then it slowly goes away. But this is not always the case. Acne can and often does show up later in a persons life and in some cases can be as bad or worse than when you were a teenager.
There are many reasons why a person develops adult acne. Its important to note that a huge amount of the people who develop adult acne had acne as teenagers. But as a adult your skin is very different than it was when you were a teenager and some of the things that worked when you were a teenager may not work now that you are a adult. So we are going to take a look at ways to treat adult acne.
1. The first thing your going to want to do is buy a reputable over the counter acne treatment. Nowadays there are all kinds of over the counter acne treatments so you may want to ask the pharmacist at the drug store where you make your purchase to recommend a good over the counter acne treatment to you. You want to be aware that there are some treatments that could damage your skin so be sure to do your research well. If you find yourself with bad adult acne you may want to ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist. Or if you have family or friends who have had adult acne ask them what they used to treat their adult acne. Ask them what worked for them and what didn't.
2. If you find or believe that over the counter treatments are not working for you then it is time to seek the help of your doctor and a dermatologist. They may even refer you to a specialty clinic that deals with adult acne on a regular basis.
3. You never want to squeeze or pop acne or pimples. One thing you will do by doing this is you will spread the bacteria that causes acne all over your face and cause new outbreaks of acne and pimples. Squeezing the pimples can also push the bacteria further under the skin and it can cause bad scars. So don't pop or squeeze your pimples.
4. You want to eat lots of healthy foods including fresh fruits and vegetables and you want to drink plenty of water. The added water will help to wash away the toxins out of your body and your acne should improve when you get the toxins out of your body. You should also get plenty of rest and you should know that one of the chief causes of adult acne is stress. So get as much of the stress out of your life as possible. You should also try to get plenty of exercise and fresh air.
I know we said four tips but below we are going to be sharing with you some other tips on how you can help to control or even avoid having adult acne. I hope these tips will be useful for you.
Some things that you should avoid in order to keep adult acne under control are.
1. Watch your diet carefully. Your diet plays a big part in your having adult acne. If you have adult acne you want to avoid foods high in fats. Foods that are high in fats produce more oil in the body and it is that oil that you must avoid if you want to get rid of adult acne.
2. You want to avoid very cold or very hot water on any area of the body where you have acne. You should not lay hot towels or washcloths onto areas effected by acne. It will only make the acne worse.About 98 degrees is the hottest water you should put on any area effected by adult acne.
3. I know we mentioned water above but let me tell you about this. Quite often city water that is treated with chemicals will make your adult acne worse. If the water you use is treated you may want to purchase bottled water to use for drinking and making coffee.
4. Food allergies can cause adult acne. If you start eating a food you have not ate before and you suddenly start breaking out with adult acne you may be having a food allergy reaction. One good thing you may want to do is get more vitamin C into your body by either taking a supplement or starting to add more fruit and juice into your daily intake of foods.
