Folly Beach South Carolina Is A Special Magical Place

Is there a place you like to get away to for a quick vacation. Is it a place that draws it back to you time and time again. My place is Charleston South Carolina and the little beach community of Folly Beach South Carolina about 12 miles from downtown Charleston South Carolina. Charleston South Carolina is one of America's true classic cities. But if you're looking for a place like New York City or Chicago then Charleston really isn't the place for you. I will never forget the first time I saw Charleston South Carolina. Downtown Charleston is much the same way it has been for hundreds of years. You can visit historic Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor where the first shots of the American Civil War were fired. Or take a guided horse-drawn carriage ride through downtown Charleston. Downtown in the historical area you'll find many Inn's and Bed and Breakfasts that are so beautiful and you'll be pampered like you were living in the old south before the Civil War. Many of them offer wine and cheese in the evenings and afterward you can go for a walk along the water front at the Battery. The subsets here are simply magnificent. Be sure to go to the upper end of Folly Beach and see the Morris Island Lighthouse. They are in the process of restoring it and the sunsets there are not to be believed so go check out the lighthouse and the sunsets real soon. At the lower end of Folly Beach you'll find a county park and you just have to walk the beach here. Did you know that Folly Beach was also one of the favorite places of Blackbeard the Pirate?

If you've never been to Charleston South Carolina then you really need to check it out for your next vacation adventure. Since this fine old southern city sets right on the coast you can enjoy some of the best seafood and hush puppies in the world. If your going to be spending time in the summer months in Charleston then you need to check out the Charleston County Parks. You'll find great beaches and a fishing pier on Folly Beach and a wonderful water park, nature trails, picnic areas and more on James Island. Take the family crabbing for the day and give you and your children a memory that will last a life time.

Charleston Has Some Wonderful Hotels And Motels

If you're searching for Charleston Hotels then I would suggest going to Google where you can check out everything and find a really great place to stay in Charleston or near by Folly Beach South Carolina. There is a high-rise Holiday Inn just down from the fishing pier on Folly Beach. In downtown Charleston you can find places to stay that will match almost any budget. If you're looking for nice clean rooms at affordable rates check out the places along the Savannah Highway in south Charleston. If you're looking for some place really nice consider staying in one of the chalets at Middleton Place Plantation on the Ashley River Road in Charleston.

Why Not Travel To Charleston S.C. By Amtrak Train

You can travel to Charleston by several different airlines from most cities in the world. Or make your Charleston vacation a real adventure and travel to Charleston South Carolina by Amtrak Train from a location near your home. You can usually find a Amtrak station near most locations in the United States and I promise you that you'll just love going to Charleston S.C. by train. If you have children along for your vacation I promise you that it will be a big hit with them. I love traveling by train as you see a part of the country you will never see from the road or air.

Go Fishing At Charleston South Carolina.

If you like to fish and its in the summer months when you visit Charleston be sure to spend a day or two at the Fishing Pier on Folly Beach which is right near Charleston. You can rent a rod and reel for the day and they also sell bait and will tell you whats biting and what bait to use.

Be Sure You See All The Thrift Shops In Charleston.

If you love to shop be sure to check out all the thrift shops in Charleston S.C. and be sure to visit the downtown Flea Market in Charleston S.C. where you'll find many great bargains and lots of wonderful places to eat with some of the most reasonable prices of any tourist city in the United States. There's a great Cafe on the fishing pier in Folly Beach and if you visit Folly Beach you just have to eat at the Crab Shack. Be sure to try the Frogmore Stew while your at the Crab Shack.

Don't Miss The Yard Sales.

If you're in Charleston in the summer on a Saturday take the drive to Folly Beach early in the morning and watch for yard sale signs. I have found some of the best bargains ever at Charleston yard sales. You will find many easy to find yard sales all along the road leading down to Folly Beach and you will find many yard sales on Folly Beach. Just watch for the signs and enjoy the shopping.

Charleston County Parks

Charleston has some of the most wonderful parks in the world including a water park and of course the beaches of Folly Beach are in the Charleston County Parks. My Mom's Favorite Place Was Charleston South Carolina.

My Mom was Virginia Walker and Charleston was her favorite place on earth. We would visit Charleston several times a year and we would always go to the Crab Shack on Folly Beach to eat and we would always visit the thrift shops and the wonderful yard sales there. Sadly my Mom passed away on January 6th 2010. I hope they have a Charleston in heaven. I dedicate this Hub Page to her memory and her love of Charleston S.C.
