Believe it or not but Friday the 13th can even be bad for some peoples health. I myself have had some strange and unusual things happen to me on Friday the 13th. Unfortunately there are 3 Friday the 13ths in 2012 and I will most likely will be staying in the house and hiding all three days. You may not believe it but there have been several medical studies done on the health effects of Friday the 13th on certain people.

It really shouldn't be true but in studies done over a number of years there are more accidents on Friday the 13th than any other days of the year. And believe it or not but fewer people drive their automobiles on Friday the 13th and a lot of people including the author of this Hub Page just don't go out on Friday the 13th. I figure if I don't leave the house and I don't do anything unusual on that day that I should be safe. Just be sure to watch out for those black cats on Friday the 13th also. On any day of the year but especially on Friday the 13th if a black cat crosses your path repeat the below and make the sign of the cross.

I can remember that my Dad was all his life especially scared of black cats and he would make the sign of the cross and repeat those words over and over if a black cat crossed his path or got any where near him on Friday the 13th.

And it appears that Friday the 13th really is unlucky for some people. If you think it is consider getting a protection candle and burning it that day or repeat St Micheal's Prayer of Protection through out the day.

Some people will repeat that prayer through out the day on any Friday the 13th or if they feel like they are in trouble. A lot of people especially Catholics use this prayer on a regular basis.

Many people are extremely fearful of Friday the 13th and black cats. Its interesting to note here that in England and Scotland the Black Cat is considered good luck but here in the United States black cats are considered bad luck and often feared.

I bet you didn't know that in some parts of Asia especially Southeast Asia that Friday the 13th and the number 13 are considered good luck.

In 2013 there will be two Friday the 13ths. They will occur on Friday September the 13th and on Friday December the 13th.

Friday the 13th in 2014

In 2014 there is only one Friday the 13th. It will happen on Friday June 13th 2014. So if your afraid or superstitious of Friday the 13th you will only have to deal with it once in 2014.

No 13th Floor

Do you know in a lot of older tall buildings in New York City and Chicago that there is no 13th floor. On the elevators the numbers go from 12 to 14 and skip the number 13 all together.

How To Protect Yourself On Friday The 13th

1. On the night of the 12th before it turns midnight and becomes Friday the 13th place a pile of rice by your beside and if you have a small blessed silver cross stand it in the rice. Leave the rice there until after midnight on the 14th. Bury the rice and you will have good luck until the next Friday the 13th.

2. Cover every mirror in your house with black cloth before midnight on the 12th before it turns over into Friday the 13th. Don't remove the black cloth until after midnight on the 13th.

3. Don't consult the stars on Friday the 13th and avoid reading your Horoscope on Friday the 13th.

4. On the 12th before midnight place a small Bible beneath your pillow and be sure to leave it there until the 14th.

5. Repeat the prayer to St Michael through out the day on Friday the 13th. If you have a blessed rosary wear it from before midnight on the 12th until after midnight on the 13th.

6. Spread birdseed around your yard just at daylight on the 13th. If you do you will be blessed with good luck all day on Friday the 13th.

7. If a Black Cat crosses your path on Friday the 13th repeat the below words and make the Catholic sign of the cross.

Be sure to repeat the words at least three times and make the sign of the cross each time. If you own a black cat tie a white ribbon with a small silver bell around its neck. You must do this before midnight on the 12th and you don't take it off until after midnight on the 13th.

The British Government back in 1879 wanted to put to rest a British Naval Superstition that it was bad luck for a ship to depart from port on Friday the 13th. A ship was commissioned and named the HMS Friday. The Captain picked for the ship was named Jim Friday. And finally the ship departed from port on Friday the 13th. And the ship was never seen or heard from again.

Do you know there is even a rumor that it was on Friday the 13th that Eve tempted Adam with an apple back in the Garden of Eden. In early Rome all executions were carried out on Friday. Fridays were also the day of execution in England. It was known as Hangman's Day. Some great Generals in history including Patton, Eisenhower, and German General Rommel refused to start campaigns on any Friday which of course included all Friday the 13ths.
