America's Homeless And Hungry Numbers Are Growing In Leaps And Bounds? Why Do We Not See This On CNN?

You know this week I was setting and watching the men being returned in body bags from Iraq and Afghanistan. And that really bothered me to see the young Marines carry the flag draped coffins from the plane. I love America and I served in the service but I am ashamed of what our country has become.

And then yesterday when it was really raining hard here I happened to go by a local park and I saw many people under the sheds in the local park. Many were in sleeping bags and some in blankets. Some had plastic to try to stay dry and some had simply given up and the water was running down over them and there they sat. It actually looked like a cross between a concentration camp and a mass murder. But do you know who all these people were. And yes there were four children in that park also.

They were America's homeless. Later on I watched them line up at a local church in the pouring rain to eat lunch. And it really made me mad no angry as hell that this is going on in America and no one cares. Why? Why do I say no one cares?

Well I saw a story on CNN all day about a river rising over its banks in North Dakota. But no where on CNN did I see a picture of a homeless or hungry child. I clicked through the other networks and it was the same. And I got madder. Mad that millions no billions are being spent day after day on a war no one wanted and right here in our own country the homeless and hungry numbers are growing in leaps and bounds.

Think about this as you set there. Tonight in the USA 33 Million Americans are hungry and 13 million of that number are children. 13 Million hungry children and yet we continue to send all that money overseas to fight a war no one wanted in the first place. You know I really believe if men like Washington, Adams, or Jefferson were alive today they would want to start a revolution. Because people our government that we elected is just not cutting it. They keep the political infighting going on and you listen to the talking heads talk their bullshit about the National debt that our grand-kids are going to have to pay. Hell people we better start worrying about what is going on in our country today and not worry about something 50-100 years from now.

Then the Republicans trotted out Rush Limbaugh recently and I knew for a fact that our country is in serious trouble. I did a hub on it in fact. CLICK HERE to see it.

I could give a damn less if a man or woman was a democrat or a republican. What I care about is if they have the true and best intrests of the American people at heart and I tell you what people I don't see a republican or a democrat that cares at all about the American people. If they did they would be on CNN, CBS, NBC some where screaming about the homeless and the hungry here in America. Maybe just maybe its time we got rid of all the republicans and the democrats. But you know what the average American that still has a roof over his or her head isn't going to say or do anything about it. If you still have a ham sandwich in the refrigerator why should you care if 13 million children here in America are going to go hungry tonight.

Hundreds Of Thousands Of US Textile Jobs Were Shipped Overseas

And you know another thing that really bothers me. Think about this! The Politicians from both parties let the US Textile Jobs be sent overseas. Whole towns and cities in the American south set empty tonight because all the jobs were sent to Mexico and China. Hundreds of Thousands of jobs have been lost. And it was our Republicans and Democrats that we let do this to us. We need to stop Textile Imports and bring the jobs back to the USA where they should have never left. Why did we set by as Americans and let this happen. WHY? We need to rid our country of Republicans and Democrats and have a American party that is for Americans first.

13 Million Hungry And Starving Children Right Here In The USA

The most shocking thing of all is to see homeless and starving children right here in the USA , 13 million of them tonight and people its not even on the news. And it burns me up when I see late night commercials soliciting for money to be sent over seas. Hell people we need to think about America first. And our own homeless and hungry children here in the USA.

Bottomline people we better wake up and try to do something because if we don't America is going to continue to go down hill and become a poor third world country. Its sad that we have come to this. Sad indeed and we as Americans continue to worry about Republicans and Democrats. I say throw all of them out and start over with a party that will be for America first. We need to take care of America's problems here at home and try to see that all American children have a home and that there are no more hungry American children.

Americans need the jobs that were sent overseas! Please stop the madness! Put America back to work with jobs that should have never went there in the first place!

Stop the madness... bring Americans jobs back home.

I can't agree enough. But we have to remember we stood by while American jobs were sent overseas and let the politicians have their way. I'm with Crazyhorsesghost. We should throw all the bums out including all the democrats and all the republicans. I myself also think we should have a two term limit for the senate or congress. This would end the good old boy thing and assure new blood. I'm sorry but we don't need men serving 50 years in Congress.

Good points JohnM. And yes if we got rid of career politicians we would see a totally different political atmosphere. It would really cut into the good ole boy network for sure.

I agree we should get rid of any politician who does not think 100 percent for Americans first. And that would include a end to textile imports or any imports that would destroy the US Economy.

Hunger should worry every American. 13 Million Hungry Children should make you as mad as hell.

Could it be that in a bygone time Americans looked out for their neighbors—or at the least, their extended family? What happened? What changed? I won't even get into the macroeconomic changes caused by the Federal Reserve System since 1913—along with the Income Tax.

Americans have been sold on the idea that Big Brother is going to take care of everybody. Therefore you are no longer your brother's keeper. The fly in the ointment is that, whereas you would give your neighbor a sack of groceries 100 years ago if they were hungry; now you send that sack to DC and the bureaucracy eats the groceries before they get back to your neighbor. Eventually, we don't even know our neighbors anymore. We could say, "Help them anyway!" How can we when 50% of our toil and sweat is confiscated by the Feds?

The thing about that sack was: you knew who was benefitting from your labors and they knew who their benefactor was—personally. There was gratitude involved. Now we see poor people on TV with 5 kids from 5 daddys—most of them unknown—saying, "That damn gubmint better give me some more cheese!"

Well, I agree and disagree I guess. I agree that millions of hungry in the US is appalling. I disagree that banning imports (of any type) would solve it. Of course, if you ban any type of import, the price of the goods will rise - lowering the available money people have -- contributing to hunger.

The core of the problem (IMHO) is due to a few issues; Education being foremost. Uneducated workers (in china, for example) take jobs for 25 cents an hour, producing goods far cheaper than we could do here (at 7.25/hour min. wage). We're never going to be able to beat that.

What we can do, far better than the chinese, is educate our populace, educate them beyond the level of working on a factory line. Educate them to invent new chemical formulas for textiles, educate them to develop more advanced computer chips, educate them to develop new cures for diseases. Ownership of intellectual property is perhaps our only hope for a bright future, given our current penchant for "socializing" things like medical care, or "food for all" as basic human rights provided for by our government (what's next, homes, cars, even cell phones as basic rights provided for by our government?).

After all, we can't afford to feed everyone "for free", or give them medical care "for free" if we make only basic, low skill items like shoes or pants.

The answer to providing increased public services is to build things of greater value, not lesser.

That's my opinion, anyways.

Jobs going away started in the 1970's. It continued year after year. It did NOT start with George Bush. So, we have lived all our life with jobs going overseas. Do you know why? I'll tell you why. Because when I was growing up in the 1950s, luggage cost $300.00. I know because that is what I wanted for graduation. American jobs went overseas because WE GREEDY AMERICANS wanted cheaper more available stuff. If the jobs come back, things will need to be fixed again. Shoes will be stiched not glued. You can take them in and get them fixed not throw them away. The politicians did not give away our jobs. We did!! Think about that - no Walmart - no black Friday. Don't change your sheets every 6 months. Things have to last and won't be shiny new and not worth a darn. I've actually told people that they will have to pay more and they say that they will continue to buy the cheaper goods. So, all that has to be done is for Americans to decide to belly up and buy American at 10 times the price and you will get your jobs back. Just quit blaming the politicians because you did it.

very few people are hungry in the U.S. This is a scam. Unemployed/disadvantaged, the poor have a higher incidence of obesity.

There are 13 Million children who will go to bed hungry tonight in the United States. I work with the poor and the hungry on a day in day out basis and yes there are many many hungry people in the USA.

Right now there are 14.000 homeless men , women , and children living under bridges in downtown New Orleans and another 300.000 people who can't come home all these years after the hurricane.

I am setting here this evening and still in line are about 120 people still waiting to eat supper at the shelter where I do supper each night. Can you tell these people that they are a scam. At first I was not going to approve your comment but I did because it burns me up that people believe what they do about the poor, hungry and homeless here in America. The US Goverment its self is the one that gives the figure of 13 million children being borderline hungry each night. Even one hungry child is one to many and I think the good ole boys Republicans and Democrats should be thrown out of office. We need a new party that will be for Americans first and to hell with the rest of the world. Now there's about 80 of those hungry people that don't exist still in line waiting to eat. So yes there are hungry people in America. Millions of them. You need to know what your talking about before you post untrue comments. Because the United States is filled with hungry people and many of them are children.

we can preach about this all we want but until we do something it is going to be the same today and the next.i will help do what i can but we have talked about this to much it is time to make a move.

Crazyhorsesghost, you happen to be working in an area that recently endured one of the most catastrophic natural disasters in US history. This statistic would suggest that one in every 30 americans is a starving child..how come I have never met a single one of them? Having lived my entire life in an inner city environment and having attended schools that are 70% black and 10% hispanic you would think that by now, 20 years later, I would have met even just one of this subset of the population that apparently represents 1/30 of the whole. Stop listening to this social welfare agenda, it is full of fallacies.

I do not understand how you have never met a hungry child as I see them every day. Earlier today I handed a young mother a box of groceries and watched a young girl of 5-6 hug a can of Green Beans.

Almost every night we rescue food from the dumpsters and it goes to feed hungry people including many hungry children. I see children stand in line to eat supper each night. And I see this in North Carolina, Chicago, New Orleans, and Seattle. I am usually in one of those cities at least every week or so.

By U.S. Government Statistics there are 13 million hungry children every night in the USA. Now many of these are borderline hungry meaning they have something to eat but maybe not what they want. But even one child is one to many. Even one homeless person is one to many.

As long as we have hungry people and homeless people here in the USA not one more dime should be spent on War.

Because we do have homeless and hungry people here in the USA. And they are here in much larger numbers than they were five years ago.

I see hungry people stand in line every night to get a meal. I can see a line outside right now with about 700 people in it. And this happens at cities all over the United States.

15.000 homeless and hungry people live under bridges and in alleys in New Orleans. Just think if you had no warm comfortable bed to lay down in tonight.

To the average American they can not even begin to understand what it would be to be homeless and hungry tonight.

But I guess those 700 people standing in line out there are social welfare agenda. They appear very real to me and I'm about to go help feed them supper. I hope if you've never been hungry that you don't end up in that situation. I hope you never end up at my back door asking for a blanket and a plastic poncho. May the Grace And Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Crazyhorseghost, I am not sure how others can not see the starving. I see it here in NJ. I am one of those that has to make use of the food stamps, and the food banks to provide for my family. I am not uneducated, nor do I refuse to work. However certain things in life left me broke and without a job. Now I work doing odd jobs to make cash. You know what there are alot of others at the foodbank just like me.......Dose that make us trash? I dont think so....Great hub....I back your cause and want to see a change.

No your not trash just one more person who is falling through the cracks in a system that doesn't work. Food Stamps help but not enough. I don't think your trash. I think you are a fellow American in need of a hand up. May God Bless You And May You Find Peace.

There are plenty of starving and hungry people all over the United States and many of them are children. Thanks for your comment and reply and I hope things get better for you.

I want to help, what can I do to get started

Oorah 8 weeks ago

I'll do one further than wjenkin23. I want to know what I can do to help! Not only that I want to know who gathered the statistics that you're reporting as truth so that I can find these individuals that are suffering! You didn't link anything! How can I find the people that need help if I don't know which organization is reporting their need for help? LINK TO THE RANDOM STATISTICS YOU PUT OUT.
